August 22, 2010
A recent article in the New York Times reports that a previously unknown collection of over 25,000 design sketches, working drawings, renderings and photographs from the second half of Philip Johnson’s career from 1968 to 1992 is about to go up for sale. The archival materials are being sold by one of Johnson’s former business partners who had kept them in storage for years. Included in the collection are Johnson’s AT&T Building and some of the smaller structures on his Glass House property.
