Call for Papers: 13th International Conference, Seoul, Korea
October 26, 2013
Every other year DOCOMOMO International convenes a conference to bring together DOCOMOMO members and friends from its 59 national working groups. The next conference, in August 2014, is being hosted by DOCOMOMO Korea, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. Abstracts are being accepted through November 28.
DOCOMOMO International conferences combine paper sessions, roundtables, workshops and tours. The 2014 theme “Expansion & Conflict” will address the values and relevancy of the Modern Movement through the extreme cultural lens of Asia. As further noted in the call for papers, the Modern Movement challenged a century of classical values through a collective global revolution in technological, social, political and aesthetic spatial values. The magnitude and complexity of this confrontation multiplied when Modernity’s western values expanded into the Asian sphere. Ultimately, the theme is about the resilience of the Modern Movement.
August 21–31, Seoul, Korea
