TWA plan scrapped for a new developer
February 17, 2014
In late January André Balazs Properties, the company behind The Standard hotel group, announced it was no longer pursuing plans to redevelop the TWA Flight Center into a hotel and conference center. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a statement that it is “already in discussions with a second prospective candidate from the request for proposal process to redevelop the historic TWA Flight Center.” Neither party is speaking publicly about the fallout and the Port Authority is has not announced the new developer. DOCOMOMO NY/Tri-State will continue to serve on a committee of preservation-focused organizations established in 2000 to review proposals for the historic terminal.
