DOCOMOMO US Tour Day 2012
October 6, 2012
DOCOMOMO US, the national organization that coordinates and supports local DOCOMOMO chapters, has announced its sixth annual Tour Day. Exclusive events and tours featuring Modern Movement architecture will be hosted by all 13 DOCOMOMO US chapters and affiliate partners on Saturday October 6. With 38 tours planned in 22 states, Tour Day continues to be one of the nation’s largest events promoting architecture, design and our built heritage of the mid-20th century. In addition to a continued partnership with the Society of Architectural Historians, this year’s event features a new partnership with the Paul Rudolph Foundation to help shed light on the Modernist architect's legacy and to advocate for his buildings.
Tour Day 2012 seeks to raise awareness of and appreciation for buildings, interiors, neighborhoods and landscapes designed in the United States during the mid-20th century. The event invites organizations and people across the country to take stock of and celebrate the significant 20th century built design in their state, city, region or neighborhood by taking a DOCOMOMO US tour.
