November 8, 2012
through February 2, 2013

This exhibition is the first comprehensive retrospective of the work of George Nelson, one of the most influential figures in American design during the second half of the twentieth century. “George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher” presents more than 120 three-dimensional objects—furniture, cabinets, lamps, clocks, and more—including the "Coconut Chair" (1956), "Marshmallow Sofa" (1956), "Ball Clock" (1947), and "Bubble Lamps" (1952 onwards). These are supplemented by historical documents in the form of drawings, photographs, architectural models, and films.
