Playboy Architecture: 1953-1979

July 20, 2016
through August 28, 2016

For Modern enthusiasts traveling near Chicagoland this summer, the Elmhurst Art Museum is a worthy detour beyond the city. The museum is currently showing the exhibition Playboy Architecture: 1953-1979, which explores how architecture and design played a role in creating the Playboy fantasy as well as how Playboy magazine came to influence the world of architecture and design. The exhibition is staged inside an equally seductive Modern interior: Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House. The Elmhurst Museum purchased the house from its original owners in 1994 and, after relocating it a few blocks away, reopened it as a part of the Museum in 1997.
