RPPN Summer newsletter features NJ Modern student survey
August 25, 2011
The Recent Past Preservation Network published a special issue of its online magazine featuring work by five preservation students, including Alyson Goldman, a Rutgers University junior in art history who is combing Bergen County New Jersey for Modern architecture. Alyson’s survey, complete with written documentation and current photographs, will become part of DOCOMOMO NY/Tri-State’s comprehensive NJ Modern survey. Her article for RPPN provides some highlights.
Other topics covered by the students’ articles include a look at the 50-year rule and its implications for buildings of the 1960s, Modern movement standouts in Cook County (Chicago area), Yamasaki’s new Formalism and new approaches for evaluating significance in preservation planning.
