A contingent of DOCOMOMO New York/Tri-State members have returned from the Arizona desert where DOCOMOMO US hosted its fifth annual symposium. With the theme "Modernism and Climate,” this year’s gathering explored creative strategies for designing in a desert environment and featured an expanded itinerary by coinciding with the annual Modern Phoenix Week. The Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Garden at PepsiCo World Headquarters in Purchase, NY, reopened to the public on a limited basis on April 1. The collection includes works by Alexander Calder, Jean Dubuffet, Joan Miró, Auguste Rodin, and Alberto Giacometti, and is sited in 168 acres of the corporate campus’ carefully tended landscape. The headquarters is a seven-building complex designed by Edward Durell Stone and completed in 1970.
