Building Worlds: Movie Recommendations from MoMA’s Architecture Team

Ten curators from MoMA’s Department of Architecture and Design share their favorite films in which architecture and design have more than supporting roles. With short descriptions and streaming sources for each—and trailers for many—the post is a fine isolation escape resource. Two stand out classics directed by modernist French filmmaker Jacques Tati (1907–1982) poke at the modern world and its architecture head on through a delightful blend of comedy and critique: Playtime (1976) and Mon Oncle (1958), in French.
