Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center opens May 10 for its 2024 season. Tours feature the Design Gallery, a permanent collection of Russel and Mary Wright designs for the American home.

The DOCOMOMO US/New York Tri-State Symposium Grant provides financial support for students and emerging professionals committed to the documentation and conservation of Modern Movement buildings, landscapes, and sites. The intent of this year’s scholarship is to enable two individuals to participate in the Docomomo US 2024 National Symposium in Miami and Coral Gables, FL from May 29 – June 1, 2024. The recipients of this year’s grant are Kimberly La Porte and Susan Singh.

Tours at the Glass House will now include the restored Brick House, which has been closed to the public since 2008 due to ongoing damage from water infiltration. Its closure left half of the property’s architectural story untold. Completed only months before the Glass House, the Brick House was an integral part of Johnson’s original plan for the site. Restoring the campus to its full glory as a National Historic Landmark coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Glass House.

The James Rose Center, the suburban laboratory of one of landscape architecture’s most inventive minds, will open for the summer and fall season on May 18.

Nominations are open for the 11th Modernism in America Awards. Across three categories—design, inventory/survey, and advocacy—the awards recognize and celebrate the documentation, preservation and reuse of modern buildings, structures and landscapes built in the United States or on U.S. territory.

DOCOMOMO US/New York Tri-State has an 11-member Board of Directors that manages all of the organization’s activities and initiatives. At its March 13, 2024 meeting the board was pleased to elect Ritika Jharia as its newest member.
